We believe in doing the right thing and provide every opportunity for children to experience a sense of being active citizens and influencing the world around them. Every child, family, teacher and visitor is welcomed and should feel secure in our nurseries. We support everyone to embrace their inner well-being and through daily activities we encourage children to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society.
Enriched learning comes from exciting experiences
We give children every chance to engage with their community from trips to the library to buying produce from local shops. What’s more our Generational play programme encourages children and elderly residents to come together and take part in activities such as creative play, singing, storytelling alongside having a good old chat. This connection of our wisest and our youngest has proven to have a significant impact on both generations’ communication, language and personal, social and emotional development.
Understanding cultures and diversity
Our community links enable the children experiences involving different people to better support their understanding of the world beyond their own allowing them to build and develop further connections and relationships alongside the importance of respect. We embrace cultures, languages and traditions that all our children and their families bring, and share these experiences to help children gain a wealth of understanding to help them value and respect themselves and others.
That’s because at Little Pioneers every child matters and we have a responsibility to teach children that they and every person in the world matters and to be proud of their individuality. We do this by having lots of fun recognising and celebrating diversity. Every child is offered ‘a round the world trip’, a trip of discovery that inspires children to embrace their own and different cultures. This means going beyond absorbing books to immersing themselves in trying new foods, celebrating a variety of cultural festivals, wearing traditional clothes, studying artists, listening to different types of music, hearing and trying out different languages, globe spotting and appreciating all the world has to offer. We ensure that children see and sense the value in all people to help support the formation of inclusive beliefs and attitudes where children are taught to respect and celebrate individuals.
Working together to look after our world
Children learn different ways to help our communities and protect the environment as part of our commitment to the Keep Britain Tidy Eco-Schools scheme. In this programme it’s the children that decide what actions they want to make to support sustainability. Water, waste, litter, energy, transport and the importance of mini beasts plus so much more - they drive their own programme through a committee that’s centred on them understanding how the choices they make impact how they’ll live in the future.
