September 2020 recap
Everyday we are creating, playing and learning so many great things in our nurseries. So we thought it would be a nice idea to pull out some of our favourite things from the month to share with you.
During September we’ve had so many exciting things taking place. These included welcoming lots of new families to our nurseries during our Open Day and for the new preschool term, learning about the seasons changes now we are embracing autumn and going on bug hunts in our nursery gardens.
Embracing Autumn
Have you noticed the weather getting colder and the leaves starting to turn brown? Our little ones certainly have. They've been really interested in the seasonal changes taking place, so our nurseries have been talking about the different seasons and how we're now in Autumn. We've also been looking in our vegetable patches to see which vegetables need harvesting before it gets much colder.
Let's get growing
We love planting! This month we've planted apple seeds in the hope we can grow a big tree at our Newcastle nursery! And over at Waford Nursery, pepper seeds have been sewn to turn into tasty snacks. As well as that, we've also been planting new plants that will last through the changing seasons.
Busy bugs
Our children have had lots of fun learning more about the smallest guests in our gardens... bugs! We’ve had wiggly worms at Watford, a bug hotel built at our Sussex nursery and even new pet stick insects at our Newbiggin nursery. Did you know stick insects are mainly nocturnal and only come out at night? Our stick insects have been lovingly name, Emma, Mason, Twiggy, Stickman and Flamingo we can’t wait to see how big they grow.
Preschool fun
We've welcomed lots of new starters across our nurseries this month including new preschool children. Our preschools are always very busy enjoying fun activities and learning opportunities. This month the little ones at our Madley Park nursery have been zooming around learning to ride bikes with our Isla bike lessons. Over at Swindon our little learners have been reading Handas surprise and have been practising balancing trays and trying lot of new fruits. We’ve also had shape hunts at our Charlton nursery and lots of fun and exploration from all of our preschooler’s everywhere.
