Rocket Gardens
At Little Pioneers, we’re passionate about healthy living and well-being, and we believe that it’s never too early to teach children about the importance of growing their own food and understanding where it comes from. That’s why we’ve introduced Rocket Gardens, a hands-on gardening initiative designed to give children a deeper connection with nature and healthy eating.
What does it involve?
Every day, our Little Pioneers get involved in the garden, interacting with the growing area through planting, tending, picking, and maintaining plants following Rocket Garden’s ‘Top Tips Growing Guide’. Children are also taught how to care for the environment and about the food cycle journey, from seed to plate.
Once a month, the children take part in special cooking activities where they see first-hand how meals are prepared, using fresh ingredients from our garden wherever possible. This not only helps them appreciate the value of healthy, homegrown food but it also encourages them to make healthier food choices!
What do we plant?
There are lots of yummy baby plants we receive in our Rocket Gardens packs. Take a look below to see what’s on the menu!
We believe in a collaborative approach to healthy living, and parents play a key role in Rocket Gardens. Our commitment to parents includes:
-
Hosting a Healthy Living & Well-being Workshop at the nursery during the year, where parents can learn about the benefits of gardening and healthy eating for their children.
-
Giving parents the opportunity to get involved in the growing areas at least once per year, whether by helping plant new crops or joining in a garden activity with their child.
Growing Together
Rocket Gardens isn’t just about growing plants – it’s about fostering a love for healthy eating, teaching responsibility, and connecting children with the natural world. By involving children, colleagues, and parents, we create a supportive environment where everyone can learn and grow together, making healthier choices for a better future.
At Little Pioneers, we are committed to nurturing well-being through Rocket Gardens, helping our children develop life skills that will benefit them for years to come. Together, we can cultivate a love for fresh food and a healthy lifestyle!
