Child Friendly Recipe - Broccoli and Cauliflower Bake
It's time to share another of our yummy receipes from nursery for you to try at home. We're all about healthy, nutritious meals... and this one hits the spot in every way!
As it says in the name, our broccoli and cauliflower bake is packed full of vegetables. And with lashings of cheese sauce, it's sure to be a winner with your little ones... even the fussy ones!
Ingredients:
- Plain flour – 40g
- Whole Milk – 400ml
- Baguettes Wholemeal Part Baked - 2 each
- Frozen Cauliflower – 200g
- Frozen Broccoli – 200g
- Black Pepper – 1.2g
- Mild Grated Cheddar Cheese – 100g
- Soft Spread – 40g

Ready, steady, cook!
To make the cheese sauce

Firstly, add the milk, flour and soft spread into a large saucepan.

Then on a medium heat and start to whisk the mixture fast. Once this has come to the boil, whisk for another 2 minutes.

Finally, add half of the cheese and whisk until this is melted.
For the bake

Next, cook the broccoli and cauliflower in boiling water for 6-8 minutes.

Afterwards, mix the broccoli and cauliflower with the cheese sauce and add this to an oven proof dish

Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and bake this in the oven until golden brown (45 mins). Then serve this with 1/3 of the baked baguette.
